The overseer followed the divine instruction and waited by the roadside and recognised Yogaswamy and invited him to his home. Yogaswamy was fed and given good care and attention with a new set of clothes. When Yogaswamy decided to get back to Nallur, he was offered money. Yogaswamy accepted just enough money for the railway ticket to Jaffna and returned the balance.

returned to his Guru Chellappa Swamy. In 1911, Chellappa Swamy directed Yogaswamy to Columbuthurai junction for him to continue his penance and tapas under the Illupai tree, (Madhuca Longifolia). Yogaswamy obeyed the commands of his Guru and remained seated under the Illupai tree at its foot for several days. He sat regardless of sun and rain. He remained seated there, alert and awake during both days and nights. Chellappa Swamy continued to visit regularly and guided him. Until Yogaswamy became a person who did not see the Guru as separate from himself. Yogaswamy attained the eternal blissful state where “you and I” do not exist. During this period Yogaswamy was silent and enjoyed perfect happiness.
When Yogaswamy’s relatives saw Yogaswamy alive and well, they went to Chellappa Swamy and confronted him. Chellappa Swamy repeated the same words: “He is dead and we do not speak lies”.
Yogaswamy continued to stay under the shade of the ILLUPAI tree until 1914. During this period, he chased all who came to worship and follow him. People thought that Yogaswamy’s behaviour was very much similar to his guru-Chellappa Swamy. They used to call Chellappa Swamy as “mad Chellappa.”
Chellappa Swamy continued to visit Yogaswamy in Columbuthurai under the Illupai tree. Chellappa Swamy blessed Yogaswamy to do SIVATHONDU, by living among the community and not act as a lunatic like himself!
In 1915 Chellappa Swamy’s health was deteriorating and he lay ill in his hut. When Yogaswamy went to see his Guru in the hut in Nallur, as he approached the gate, his Guru shouted loudly, “who is at the gate?” (யாரடா படலையில்?) following that the Guru continued and said “stand outside and witness”, (“வெளியில் நின்று பாரடா”).
These words sounded familiar to the words used by his Guru during the first meeting “who are you?” (“யாரடா நீ?”). Yogaswamy returned to his base in Columbuthurai to his hut!
Yogaswamy was always continuously in the luminous presence of his Guru Chellappa Swamy. Yogaswamy expressed his farewell to his Guru under the title,
“Hail to the Guru’s holy feet”
Hail to the holy feet of the handsome guru,
Who gave me both earth and heaven,
Pervading all things like the vowel ‘a’!
Hail always to the feet with anklets ringed,
That before my eyes appeared
As male and female, father and mother!
Hail to Thy sacred feet, O Precious One,
Who came and assumed a holy form.
To wipe out all my karma, and set me in the state of bliss!
Hail to Thy holy feet, O my support, who hast appeared
As the father and mother that gave me birth,
As my kith and kin and as my guru!
Hail to the fair feet of my guru, who came in a form like mine,
Showed me my true nature and made me his,
Whom even the knowers cannot know!
Hail within my mind to the lotus feet that are, unknown
Even to the pure ascetics, who hard tapas undergo
And on a razor’s edge are able to abide!
Hail to the feet of the true guru, who took me ‘neath his rule,
And gave himself to me saying – “Do not suffer
By regarding me as separate from you”
Hail all hail to the flawless teacher,
Who bestowed on me his perfect grace and said –
“Be yourself, of all else free”
‘திருவடி வாழ்க’
“அகரமாம் எழுத்துப் போல அனைத்தினுங் கலந்து நின்றே
இகபரம் இரண்டுமீந்த எழிற்குரு திருத்தாள் வாழ்க”
ஆணுமாய்பெண்ணுமாகி அன்னையும் பிதாவுமாகிக்
காணவே என்முன் வந்த கழலடி என்றும் வாழ்க
இருவினை நீக்கியெம்மை இன்பமாம் நிலத்தில் வைக்கத்
திருவுருத் தாங்கி வந்த செல்வநின் திருத்தாள் வாழ்க”
ஈன்றிடு தந்தைதாயோ டெய்திய சுற்றமாகித்
தோன்றிய குருவுமான துணைவ நின் திருத்தாள் வாழ்க”
உணர்ந்தார்க்கு முணரவொண்ணா ஒருவனே என்போல் வந்து
குணங்காட்டி ஆண்டுகொண்ட குருவின்சீர்ப்பாதம் வாழ்க” ஊசிமேனுனியினின்றே உக்கிர தவத்தையாற்றும்
மாசில்மாதவருங்காணா மலர்ப்பதம் மனத்தில் வாழ்க”
“என்னை நீ வேறாய்யெண்ணி இடர்ப்படவேண்டாமென்று
தன்னைத் தந்தாண்டுகொண்ட சற்குரு தாள்கள் வாழ்க” “ஏதுமொன்றறநில்லென்றே யெனக்கு நல்லருளைத்தந்த
தீதிலாத் தேசிகன் தன் திருவடி வாழ்க! வாழ்க! “
